All on Board!
31/3 - 7/4/2007,
Naturefriends house Fuchsbau, close to Berlin, Germany
All on board was a model seminar based on the experiences of young people, which aims to explore what social inclusion means for our work and how to transfer it into practice. We wanted to raise our competencies to design youth activities working with amateur art as a method of social inclusion! some reports are developed or still in process and will be publioshed when it's time.
Context
The seminar was a part of IYNF long-term programme in Amateur Art Education, which started with project Meet the Freak in 2005. Meet the Freak is 14 day summer event for 60 young people who work together on their personal development through amateur art, enjoy the friendly and supporting atmosphere, help to animate the local community and include as big diversity as possible. After two years long experience with project Meet the Freak, we feel a strong need to evaluate the impact of the project on the participants as well as the local community and confront it with the proclaimed aims of the project. Lacking a common understanding of the topic of inclusion, we often face many difficulties not only while developing a progressive concept, but as well during the actions at the activity as such.
Aims
We wanted to use the opportunity of the seminar to
* empower young people with more knowledge on inclusion,
* explore together amateur art methods as a possible path bringing
inclusion into practice and
* develop concrete action tips to be used in the follow up activities.
For whom?
25 youth workers, youth leaders, volunteers and coordinators from member and partner organisations, who
* have experienced at least one international youth event (i.e. a youth exchange, an EVS project, an international work-camp, etc.) * are interested to amateur art and/or inclusion * are motivated to further develop the concept within this theme for activities of IYNF and its Member and partner organisations * and want to multiply its impact as volunteers in them
Team
The seminar is facilitated by the experienced team of IYNF volunteers and trainers, which was involved in the previous activities of the Amateur Art Education programme. The activity coordinator is Alena (CZ), IYNF Vice-president, trainer and coordinator of previous two projects named Meet the Freak. Other team members are Simon (B), Veikko (D) and Joao (PT).
